of nearly 300 km sign-posted walks and excursions between
the Rhône valley and the glacier of Les Diablerets.
Those who are looking for rest will find at every turn of
the road, real alpine balconies, a new scenery which they
will be able to contemplate at ease, sitting on a wooden,
sunny or shady, bench as preferred.
They could, with the track railway Villars-Bretaye, easily
get to the alpine pastures and its lakes leaning at the bottom
of the rocks, the summit of the Chamossaire (2000 m) from
where an extraordinary mountain scenery all around (360º)
is offered and opens the view to frame the Mont-Blanc.

cable cars which will bring you up to the top of "Romandie"
: the glacier of Les Diablerets (3000 m).
Several
natural sites and protected areas are part of our resort,
especially the one of "Vallon de Nant". A valley
of about 14 km2 (between 1253 m and 3051 m, the top of Le
Grand Muveran) at the bottom of which bubbles the typical
mountain river the "Avançon de Nant". The
wonderful alpine garden presents about 3000 different varieties
of mountain flowers from all over the world.

Everywhere you will find more or less wide tracks, leading
through the trees, the pastures and from time to time a signpost,
a mark of colour comforting you that you are on the right
track.
Yellow
signposts give information about the position, destination
and walking times (excluding the stops). Yellow arrows show
which way the path goes. Special boards request special attention
to walkers. These signposts indicate that the pasths are practicable
by anybody and at any age with an equipement adpted to the
weather conditions. The mountain footpaths are marked with
yellow signpost with a white-red-white point.
Mountain
walks are more difficult and require a complete equipement,
good physical condition and a good preparation of the tour.
Various
themes tracks are also offered, such as : the water tack,
the salt track, the mountain pasture way, the forest track,
the wine track or the Chamossaire-Tour, the Chaux-Ronde-Tour,
the Argentine-Tour, the Muveran-Tour.
A shorter
walk of about 2 hours will allow you to get to Les Ecovets
from where you have a superb view on the lake Geneva; to get
to the "Scex lodge" from where you overlook the
village of Villars; finally, to walk to La Barboleuse or Gryon,
where the poets Juste and Caroline Olivier lived.

In half
a day, you can easily get to Col de Soud, the Truche or Coufin,
at the bottom of the impressing mountain chain of Les Diablerets.
And,
further, the excursion to : Le Chamossaire famous for the
variety of alpine flowers, the Lac des Chavonnes with its
echo coming from the rocks, Taveyannaz and the chalets built
one against the other; Solalex at the foot of the wellknown
climbing wall "Miroir de l'Argentine" and Anzeindaz
with its colourful alpine world, its "Pas de Cheville"
leading to Derborence and its lake, called after writer C.F.
Ramuz.
If
you decide to spend your holidays in the mountains, you will
discover the most beautiful panorama pictures of the colourful
forests, the green pastures with their old wooden chalets
and, at over 2000 m, the alpine pastures between rocks and
sky, the chamois, deer and ibex.
Lovers of high mountain will find their satisfaction in climbing
one of many summits near to the resort. Most of them can be
reached without a guide. However, if you would like to do
rock-climbing then you better choose a professional guide.
Below
1200 m you will find a wide choice of walking paths going
through the woods and pastures, climbing over alpine streams,
wine yards, picturesque villages such as Huémoz, Panex,
Glutières, Antagnes, Ollon, Gryon, Les Posses, Fenalet,
Le Chêne.
Finally,
the road will lead you to the Rhône Valley, Aigle with
its castle (museum of Wine yards, wine and salt) and Bex,
with its famous salt-mine, the principal attractions. The
whole year around, you will be enthusiastic about the delightfull
walks through the wine yards, the magnificient forests of
beech trees, chestnut trees, oak trees, and so on...
